A TRIP TO THE BEACH

This past Wednesday, Ana, Katherine, Juan, and I got to take a trip to the beach with Second A and First C.

We walked to Huelin (San Andres) beach, where we spent three hours looking at sea life, searching for shells, practicing a little English, and picking up trash. This was an especially important task because we got to see what type of trash is littering Malaga’s beaches and how much there is. In total, 5 empty bottles and six full bags were collected, mostly comprised of cigarette butts, plastic wrappers, food waste, and even a diaper and pair of socks!

After we correctly disposed of the litter, we walked to a center where we had a talk about boats. The students even got to touch the boats at the end. The walk back to the high school was forty-five minutes long, and even though the sun was beating down on us, we got to discuss everything interesting we saw that day.

I think the two groups had a fantastic time and learned a lot not only about recycling and the different types of trash, but also how climate change will affect Malaga’s beaches in the future.   I hope they are now more conscientious at the beach, and in their homes, of the many different ways they can reduce, reuse, and recycle.

I am super grateful that I had the opportunity to tag along and I hope the students had a great time and learned a lot. Below are some photos of the students with the trash they collected and us walking to the center to talk about boats.

Leo from First C said, “I liked searching for animals on the beach and finding shells and algae in the sand.”

Lucia from First C explained, “what I liked the most was collecting shells and walking in the sea. I liked seeing jabegas and going to the beach on bikes.”

Saúl from First C said, “I liked the excursion because I saw animals and plants. I also liked collecting trash with my team on the beach.

A TRIP TO THE PARK!

On April 13th, 78 students from 3°ESO and five teachers visited "El Parque de las Ciencias" in Granada. The students had the opportunity to explore multiple exhibits, for instance, the Pavilion for Journey through the Human Body, The Hall of Perception, The Observation Tower, the Astronomical Observatory, the BioDome, and so on. Some students participated in activities related to the digestive system and artificial intelligence.

However, from my point of view, the most amazing exposition was the "BioDomo". In this place, there are about 200 species of animals and plants, and students learned about worldwide biodiversity because there are animals from different habitats such as rainforests and oceans. We could see and interact with toucans, white-faced Saki (a monkey from the Amazon), lemurs (from Madagascar), jellyfish, sharks (from the Indian and Pacific oceans), armadillos (from South America), etc.

In general, I believe it was a beautiful experience because it allowed our students to learn about science in a funny way while also having this time to improve their relationships.

Now I would like to hear my students talk about their experience. Let's read them in the comments.

"During my visit to the Science Park of Granada, I was amazed by the variety of interactive and educational exhibitions it offered. From the planetarium and astronomical observatory to the physics and chemistry experiments area, there was something for everyone. I especially enjoyed the exhibition on the human body and brain. In short, it was a fascinating and instructive experience for all ages." Carmen R.

I found the visit to the science museum very interesting, especially the part about the human body, there were parts where we could interact with the objects. That made it more entertaining. In particular, I liked being able to see an operating theatre with the Da Vinci machine or being able to make an ultrasound scanner. Alejandra T.

I always like almost everything related to science, so when I knew about the trip, I din't think it twice and I register for going. The whole museum was awesome, the expositions very creative and they weren't small. My personal favourites were the ones related to animals, and specially the BioDome. I enjoyed very much the trip and I hope we do more in the future. Luis Miguel C.

I really liked the trip, it was very exciting to see a big and beautiful museum, moreover it had exhibits in which you could activate through a button, and it showed you a very interesting sequence. In conclusion I think that the visit was so good, and the museum was very interesting, I recommend it. Thanks for your attention. Joaquín P.

In my opinion, the science park is very cool, and I would go again, however, what I liked the most was the biodome where many species are happy and free. I also really liked in room that we went into that there were types of meteorites that had fallen all over the from the smallest meteorite to the largest. Aroa A.

Hello, I really liked that excursion to Granada to the science park, we saw a lot of variety things, health things, artificial intelligence, stuffed animals, pharmacy things, etc... But what I liked the most was the biodome, although we were very tired, we saw many aquariums from different places, jungle, Madagascar, etc. I was a little scared that they would come but no one came and everything looked great and they explained it phenomenally, I would go back many more times. Marta S.

How lucky to have gone, I couldn't go because French Erasmus students came to my conservatory and I had to welcome one, hopefully next year the excursion will be repeated and I can go, I'm sure it was a lot of fun. Juan F.

It was a very interesting and fun experience, they gave us the opportunity to see a great of animals and scientific exhibitions. thanks to this we were able to easy remember topics seen in class, and understand them better. It is true that the activity caught our attention the most was the biodome, to the great diversity and animals that we had never seen in person. In my opinion the excursion was a lot of fun and very for all. Estela A.

Our visit to the Science Park in Granada was an unforgettable experience. Students from institute had the opportunity to explore the different areas and exhibits that the park and learn about science in a fun and interactive way. From the planetarium to the section, the park provided an educational experience that left us inspired and to learn more about science. Overall, it was a great excursion that we hope to in the future. Francisco M.

Hello everyone, my name is Pablo and I went to visit the science museum in Granada, a doubt, it was a very nice experience, since there are animals with their skin when they were alive and it is really wonderful, it seems that you are with a Real there are leopards, deer, and much more! It is impressive, and also the animals are alive and the ocean, the ocean is impressive, the fish are very beautiful and they you a great variety of types of fish, even sharks! It's amazing, there are also land animals, like turtles, monkeys, and much more! They are very beautiful. I recommend to that place since everything is very beautiful and they treat you very well. For me, was a fantastic experience and I would like to repeat it again! Pablo M.

The excursion has been very interesting and fun, I had a great time seeing all the things spending the day with my companions, there were many things and very fun and the one I liked the most was the biodome and I would go back repeat. Helena C.

I have not gone on this excursion, I can say that I regret it a bit because it is a very
interesting place and it has given me a lot of healthy envy to listen to my companions talking about how well they had and all the things that were there, although I did not go I am sure that one day I will go either with friends or my family or even alone but I would to visit the science park. Adrián T.

It's the second time I've gone and I like it more each time. It is very big inside and out, it many things to experiment, learn and play with. I would repeat this visit with my family. What I like the most is the biodome, it has many animals and I have learned things that I didn't know about them. Something that I would like to see seen would be butterfly garden and the bird show. I am going to repeat the experience for the third time with my family and friends. Ainhoa C.

Although I could not go on this wonderful excursion, with the photos that have been posted in the classroom I have seen incredible things. Surely my colleagues have seen incredible things that I regret not being able to see in person. Next time I will go and learn many things. Samuel P.

Hello, I could not attend the trip to the science park in Granada but seeing this post I realized that it was a magnificent and fun trip. I've seen the photos of my classmates and the place and they look very interesting, I couldn't go but now I'm looking forward to going since I really like human and animal science, and I'm sure that when I go I'll love it! Alejandro M.

"First of all, congratulations on finishing last quarters bilingual projects.

You all worked very hard. I know working together in group projects is not easy, but you guys managed to finish with great presentations.

I am very proud of all your hard work, especially your effort in English. Each time I talk to you guys I see an improvement.

Congrats to the students who won prizes this year, your work was above and beyond! Continue working on your English skills and make sure to show your new language assistant next year how hard you worked this year. "
